Custom Sand Rings

A sand ring is a handmade ring with sand from a beach that means something to you. Set permanently into the band, so you can carry that place with you every day. Send me sand from where you got engaged, your favourite stretch of Cornish coast or a beach on the other side of the world, and I'll set it by hand, on its own or alongside shells, crushed opal or gold.

I'm Ben Perkins, a jeweller and blacksmith, and I make every sand ring to order in Cornwall and Surrey.

Sand Rings

A sand ring holds sand from a beach that matters to you, set permanently into an inlay in the band. The sand is often combined with gold flakes or crushed opal in a colour that suits the place. Only half a teaspoon of sand is needed, and I'll return any you don't use to you along with your finished ring.

From £165

Shell Rings

Shells set into the band, either on their own or alongside sand from the same beach. Crushed shell gives a soft, pearly shimmer that catches the light. If you've picked something up from a beach that means something to you, send it over and I'll let you know how it will look.

From £165

Wedding & Engagement Sand Rings

Sand from the beach where you got engaged, from your honeymoon, or from a stretch of coast you both love, set into a pair of matching rings. Sand wedding rings are one of my favourite things to make, because no two couples send me the same beach. I can make a matching pair, or a single ring to go alongside a band you already have.

From £165 per ring

How It Works

  1. Get in touch. Let me know the style of ring you're after and whether you'd like it made with sand, shells, or both.

  2. Choose your design. Pick your ring material, width and any extras, such as crushed opal or gold flakes. I'll confirm your design before I begin.

  3. Send your sand. (Or I can use some Cornish sand that I've already got) Make sure it's dry, then post it in a sealed bag inside a padded envelope, clearly labelled with your name and return address, to the address I'll send you. Everything is kept separate and labelled from the moment it arrives. Sending sand from more than one beach? Bag and label each one separately.

  4. Please make sure you're allowed to collect sand where you're taking it from, and only take the small amount needed. Some beaches and countries restrict removing sand, so it's worth checking local rules first. Collecting your sand is your responsibility, and I'd always encourage doing it with care for the place it came from.

  5. I make your ring. Most rings take 3 to 6 weeks. If you need yours sooner, I offer a priority service, so just ask. I'm always happy to accommodate last minute orders where I can.

  6. Your ring arrives. It comes tracked, along with any sand or shell you didn't use.

Getting Your Size Right

Inlay rings like these can't be resized after they're made, so it's really important to get your size right the first time. It only takes a few minutes to measure, and I'm happy to talk it through with you before you order.

Prices and Delivery

Sand, shell and wedding rings all start from £165. The final price depends on the material, width and extras such as gold flakes or crushed opal, and I'll always confirm it with you before I start.

  • Free UK postage, tracked.

  • Worldwide shipping available, with postage charged at cost.

Looking After Your Ring

Your sand is sealed permanently into the inlay, which is protected for everyday wear. Like any inlay ring, it isn't designed for heavy manual work, so I'd recommend taking it off for jobs like labouring, lifting or working with tools.

Please see my Ring Care Guide for more information on how best to look after your special piece.

Beach

Ben was a pleasure to deal with I admit it was a gamble finding someone just off Google but after looking at his socials I took the plunge and ordered a custom wedding ring and necklace from him.... A custom Titanium ring with sand special to us and crushed opal all in around 3 weeks. The ring is absolutely stunning and great communication at a really good price.
